exersise: a way of life

Exercise is not only crucial to your body, but also to your mind and heart. It doesn’t always have
to be boring, it could be fun and social as well.
Exercise could be in any form. It could be rigorous like going to the gym or as simple as taking a
walk outside. Light stretching after you wake up, Going on a trek, Dance, cycling, swimming are
all different forms of exercises.
There are numerous benefits of exercise:

Improved physical health:
The most obvious benefit of exercise is improved health. Engaging in regular exercise
decreases the risk of heart diseases, improves blood circulation, tones your muscles, increases
flexibility, and makes you fit and increases longevity.
Improves your mood:
Exercise helps control mood swings and calms your body and mind. It pumps your endorphins
making you feel good. A walk outside, or a short trek could go a long way in improving your
mood.
Better Mental Health:
Exercise makes you feel good and positive about yourself. It makes you feel energetic
throughout the day. A little bit of exercise everyday could also help fight depression, anxiety and
other mental health challenges. It distracts you from negative thought patterns, thereby
improving your mental health. It also helps regulate your sleep cycle and get better sleep
Better posture and body:
In today’s world, with increased screen time and people being on phones most of their day, we
have become robots, indifferent to body movement and having a weak posture. Exercise can
help improve your posture and make your body more flexible by increased body movement.
Makes your skin better:
Regular exercise also helps delay skin aging, reduce wrinkles, and improve skin appearance.
Your skin can also be damaged by stress, but exercise can contribute in reducing stress,
making your skin glow internally and enhancing your body image.
Enhances productivity and creative thinking:
Exercise stimulates the development of mitochondria, the power house of the cell, making you
more energetic. Exercise also improves your blood circulation to the brain which boosts
productivity and creative thinking.

However, your motivation to exercise should not be just your better physical appearance and
weight loss. This is external motivation. You should be motivated internally. You should exercise
because it makes you feel connected to your body, it improves your quality of life and makes
you feel positive about yourself.
Exercise is about being better than you used to be.
