Experience Leaf n Lean’s Millet Meals and your Daily Dose of Delicious Nutrition

In a bid to promote sustainable agriculture and improve nutrition, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a mission to increase the consumption and growth of millet in India. Millet is a group of small-seeded grasses that have long been grown in India but have been overlooked in recent years in favour of more widely cultivated grains like wheat and rice. Modi’s mission aims to change this by promoting millet’s health benefits and economic potential.

Resonating with the mission, Leaf and Lean café has launched an extensive menu of delicious dishes containing millet. They have been exclusively crafted to suit your taste buds and give you a sense of euphoria you never knew healthy food could give you.

Owner and founder of the café Dr Shashi Saini harbours an exemplary interest in the area of nutrition and is determined to impact people’s eating habits and lifestyles through her extensive knowledge. Her focus on improving the city’s overall health and promoting mindful eating aligns with the benefits of millet consumption. Head over to her cafe to try out her millet meals now!

Adding to this, Dr Saini shared that Millet is globally recognised as a highly nutritious grain rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It is also gluten-free and has a low glycaemic index raising your blood sugar slowly and gradually instead of in quick spikes, making it an ideal food for people with gluten sensitivities and diabetes.

They have a prebiotic activity that hydrates the colon to keep the human body system from being constipated. The high levels of tryptophan in millet can produce serotonin – a chemical that calms the nerves and modulates the mood, helping in memory & cognition. Niacin in millet can help lower cholesterol. Their consumption decreases triglycerides and C-reactive protein, thereby preventing cardiovascular disease. Our tribal communities have always been eating these traditional grains. In urban areas, the desire to mimic the Western culture replaced these grains with unhealthier alternatives. Millets have been considered superfoods since ancient times, but it’s only now that we realise that the hybrid varieties only give us carbohydrates and fats but not the nutrients required by our bodies.

Situated in the bustling and beautiful streets of Vesu, the heart of Surat, is a lovely, green-themed café that gives you a vibrant and peaceful atmosphere to relax your mind, soul, and body. Give your health a definitive boost by indulging in their flavourful dishes and relishing an experience like none other.
