Frog and Toad series: Book Review

Frog and Toad Series

Frog and Toad by Arnold Lobel is a collection of stories of two best friends Frog and Toad. It is

an easy reading book for children.

Frog and Toad live a simple life and the stories are about their everyday adventures like baking

and eating cookies, tending a garden, getting sick and telling a story, going for a swim or a walk.

This is what makes the book so special for everyone. These are ordinary activities that children

often relate to.

In the series, Frog is more calm and practical while Toad is a bit impulsive and anxious but just

as caring. But they are best friends and hence their qualities complement each other. The way

Frog and Toad do their everyday activities, makes us embrace the ordinary. It teaches us that

even simple little moments are special if you have another person sticking by you through thick

and thin. Like they say “Often in life those seemingly ordinary moments hold the most

extraordinary meaning.”

The stories also have a depth to it. They have some valuable insights to offer. Frog and Toad

always accept each other and make each other feel important. In a few stories, we also learn

about values like patience, willpower, respect, open-mindedness and of course friendship. I also

learnt that you should appreciate yourself, even for the small things.

I love how Frog and Toad make every moment extraordinary by making each other feel loved in

their quiet happy life. The illustrations in the books are serene and calm. We love this book

because of Toad’s silliness and Frog’s sensibility, making this a classic wholesome series that

children will always cherish.

The book is so delightful and perfectly written that you will only get to know its depth by reading

it yourself and experiencing its magic.

It truly brings the little moments to life.
