Shatranjhub’s Glory Cup: A Celebration of Chess and Friendship

Chess is often called the game of kings, but at Shatranjhub’s Glory Cup, it was truly the game of everyone. Organized by Shatranjhub, a growing chess community founded by Varun Joshi, a 21-year-old college student with a big vision, this tournament brought together players, passion, and the spirit of friendship. Alongside him, Rachit Jariwala, a 20-year-old student and close friend, worked as part of the organizing committee. What made this event even more special is that it was a dream the two childhood friends had planned years ago—and they finally turned it into reality.

The response was nothing short of phenomenal, with around 250 entries pouring in from across the country. Players came from cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Mumbai, and Navsari, proving that chess has no boundaries when it comes to enthusiasm. What stood out was the diversity of participants—the youngest being just 5 years old and the oldest above 80. The sight of different generations sitting across the board, united by their love for the game, was truly heartwarming.

The highlight of the tournament was the victory of Vivaan Vishal Shah, a FIDE Master with an impressive 2350+ FIDE rating in classical chess. His performance was an inspiration to young players who dream of making their mark in the chess world.

But beyond the trophies and titles, the Shatranjhub’s Glory Cup was about creating memories, friendships, and experiences that will be cherished for years. It showed how dedication and vision—combined with teamwork—can build a platform for players of all ages.

This tournament was not just a competition; it was a celebration of chess, community, and the unbreakable bond of friendship that made it all possible.
