Smartest Giant in Town – Book Review

The Smartest Giant in Town is a beautiful story by Julia Donaldson. It’s about a giant who feels he is the scruffiest giant in town and needs to dress more smartly. From a shop, he buys a shirt,a tie, a belt, a pair of socks and polished shoes, and wears them.

On the way, he meets a few animals who are in need of help. He donates his clothes one at a time to help the animals.

This story shows that it’s more important to be kind than smart. When given a choice between smart and kind, always choose to be kind. A small act of kindness goes a long way. That act may not make any difference to you but it definitely makes a huge difference to the other.

It also shows that being comfortable is more important.

Fancy dresses may look good on the outside but to some people, it may be uncomfortable.

You should be comfortable in dressing the way you like and wear something that makes you feel good and best reflects your personality.

Many people tend to judge a person by the clothes he/she wears. This book shows that your clothes say nothing about you whatsoever. What matters is how we treat people.

Julia Donaldson knows how to teach kids a valuable lesson through delightful stories like these.

And it’s no surprise that Axel Scheffler has done a great job with the eye-catching colourfuli llustrations.

Julia Donaldson is my favourite children’s author now.
