Chandrika Pujari is a distinguished name in Indian boxing, celebrated for her remarkable skills and dedication to the sport. Her journey from local competitions to the national stage exemplifies her commitment and passion for boxing.

 

This spectacular achievement didn’t come easy. It was the result of her hard work, her family’s sacrifices and belief in her.

 

Chandrika Pujari lived in a chawl. Her family also had financial struggles. Her father worked in a private company as a cleaner, while her mother was a domestic helper. She also had a younger brother who was disabled so he required medications and attention.

 

Despite all this, Chandrika got interested in boxing at a very young age. Her local teacher noticed her talent. Soon, she joined an academy for boxing where she further honed and improved her skills.

 

She began to win medals at state and local level competitions. She then participated in inter-state and national level boxing competitions. Her father often had to borrow money so she could travel and participate in competitions.

 

With her exceptional performance, she was noticed by the Sports Authority of India. She was trained further and then went on to participate in the Asian Championship. She cleared her semi-finals and advanced to the final level where she lost to an opponent. However, she brought home silver making her parents’ sacrifices worthy and by making the whole nation proud.
