On September 7th, 2023, the movie “Jawan” was released, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, also known as SRK, who has made a triumphant return after his recent film “Pathaan”. Fans of the superstar shared videos of themselves waiting outside Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety Galaxy theatre as early as 5 AM for the 6 AM show. In January, Shah Rukh Khan delivered the first biggest hit of the year with “Pathaan”. Now, with “Jawan”, he is all set to surpass his previous records in terms of advance booking and box office collection. The film has made an impressive release in 5,000 Hindi theaters across the country.
This is the first time that SRK has collaborated with South director, Atlee for the film and it also stars South’s lady superstar Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. The makers have also roped in Deepika Padukone, Sanjay Dutt, and Thalapathy Vijay for special cameos in the movie. Apart from them, the film also features Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, and others in key roles. The audience reactions and reviews are pouring in from all sides.
“I’ve never done an action film, I’ve done really sweet love stories, I’ve done some social dramas, I’ve done some bad guys, but nobody was taking me for action. I’m 57 years old, and I thought for the next years I have to do action films, I want to do Mission Impossible-ish kind of films. I want to do over-the-top kind of action films”- This statement was passed by Shah Rukh Khan when he confessed that nobody considered him for action films.
According to trade reports, on Day 1, the movie ‘Jawan’ earned Rs 75 crore across all languages in India. The Hindi version of the film saw an overall occupancy of 58.67 percent on Thursday, with Chennai having the highest occupancy of 81 percent. Additionally, ‘Jawan’ made AUD 400,000 on Thursday in Australia, becoming the first Indian film to top the Australian box office. The movie also debuted at number 1 in New Zealand, earning NZ$ 79,805 (Rs 39.13 lakh). In Germany, ‘Jawan’ debuted at the number 3 spot, earning Rs 1.30 crore. The film has also had a successful start in North America, the UK, and Canada.
