Major Infrastructure Boost: Defense Minister to Inaugurate 90 Projects in Jammu
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled for a day-long visit to Jammu on 12th September, Tuesday, during which he will virtually inaugurate 90 projects carried out by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) and participate in the North Tech Symposium, according to an official statement.
The infrastructure initiatives undertaken by the Border Roads Organization encompass the construction of four airstrips and helipads along the northern and western borders, as confirmed by a defense spokesperson.
Upon his arrival in Jammu in the morning, Minister Singh will then proceed to Samba to inaugurate the state-of-the-art Devak bridge, measuring 422.9 meters, situated on the Bishnah-Kaulpur-Phulpur Road. This bridge is one of the 90 infrastructure projects completed by BRO at a total cost of Rs2,941 crores, which comprises 21 roads, 64 bridges, one tunnel, two airstrips, and two helipads, as reported by the official source.
The Devak bridge holds strategic significance for the defense forces and is expected to stimulate socio-economic development in the region. The remaining projects will be inaugurated virtually, as indicated by the spokesperson.
The defense minister will later attend the ongoing North Tech Symposium at IIT Jammu’s Jagti campus.
