“From Lockdown Hobby to Crore-Rupee Business: The Inspiring Journey of Digvijay Singh, Udaipur’s Self-Taught Chocolatier”

A 19-year-old self-taught chocolatier from Udaipur, Digvijay Singh, has turned his hobby into a
successful business worth Rs 1 crore. His brand, Saraam, sells fine chocolates made from
scratch, starting from the cocoa beans. Digvijay started making chocolates when he was 16
during the COVID-19 lockdown, when he had a lot of free time. He first learned how to make
chocolates by watching YouTube videos.

Digvijay’s chocolates are unique because he uses local fruits and spices like jamun, saffron, and
baer, which showcase India’s natural flavors. His business began after he got an idea from a car
showroom that gave out chocolates to customers. He contacted car showrooms and hotel
owners to sell his chocolates, and in 2021, he received his first big order for 1,000 chocolates.

Today, Digvijay’s company, Saraam, has sold over two tonnes of chocolates to customers
across India, including cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Udaipur, and Jaipur. He sources his cocoa
from Kerala and Tamil Nadu and buys fruits from different parts of India, like baer from Udaipur.
Digvijay’s chocolates are available online and in stores in Udaipur and Jaipur.

His journey from a lockdown hobby to a thriving business is an inspiration for others who want
to turn their passions into a profession.
