October brings with it two great occasions that inspire us to reflect on values of truth, courage, and goodness—Gandhiji Jayanti on 2nd October and Dussehra, the festival marking the victory of good over evil.
On Gandhiji Jayanti, we honor the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, who taught the world that peace, non-violence, and truth are stronger than any weapon. His life reminds us that even the greatest battles can be won without anger or bloodshed, but with patience, courage, and compassion. His principles of Ahimsa and Satya continue to guide us in building a society rooted in justice and harmony.
Just a few days later, we celebrate Dussehra, the triumph of Lord Rama over Ravana. It is not just a mythological victory, but a reminder that arrogance, ego, and wrongdoings eventually fall before truth and righteousness. Burning the effigies of Ravana symbolizes burning the negativity within us—anger, greed, jealousy—and lighting the spark of goodness, humility, and kindness.
Together, these festivals remind us that true strength lies not in power or weapons but in values and virtues. Gandhiji’s teachings and the story of Dussehra both encourage us to overcome the “Ravana” inside us and walk on the path of truth.
As we celebrate these two occasions, let us pledge to carry forward the spirit of peace, unity, and goodness, creating a brighter and more compassionate tomorrow.
Positive Thought:
“Real victory is not over others but over the weaknesses within ourselves.”
