Cycle se Chaand tak: Chandrayaan-3 successfully lands on the Moon’s South Pole

With the successful landing of the Vikram Lander Module of ISRO’s third lunar mission Chandrayaan-3, India has reached the Moon! It has also become the first country to land spacecraft on the lunar’s uncharted territory of the South pole and overall fourth country to reach the Moon.

ISRO’s Moon mission, Vikram lander made the soft landing on 23rd August, Wednesday evening at 6:04 pm. In a short time, after the Vikram lander landed and its health was checked by the space agency, the Pragyan rover rolled out of the lander. With this, the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s 14 days of science observations has begun.

Chandrayaan-3’s soft landing recap video can be observed again and again in the below link-

Engineers, mission managers, dignitaries and guests in the Indian Space Research Organization’s control centre arose in cheers and applause.

“We have achieved a soft landing on the moon,” confirmed ISRO Chairman Shri Somanath. “Yes, on the moon!

On this successful mission, PM Modi said,” India will remember this day forever.” He added that now, “India is on the Moon and Sky is not the limit anymore” immediately after the Vikram lander touches down on the lunar surface.

Inside the lander is the six-wheeled Pragyan Rover, which if all goes to plan, will roam the lunar surface gathering images and data. The officials at the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC) are ready to roll out the rover, which will carry out in-situ chemical analysis of the lunar surface during the course of its mobility.

Congratulating the team of scientists at ISRO, PM Modi said, “India’s successful moon mission is not India’s alone. Our approach of one earth, one family one future is resonating across the globe. Moon’s mission is based on the same human-centric approach. So, this success belongs to all of humanity.”

“This is new India; its arms extend from Mars to the Moon”, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. On congratulating the ISRO team, he added, “India has added a golden chapter in the history of space exploration with the landing of Vikram Lander on the south pole of the Moon.”
