PM Modi to Inaugurate ₹5,500 Crore Development Projects in Prayagraj Ahead of Mahakumbh 2025

In a major push to enhance the infrastructure and spiritual experience for millions of devotees,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, where he will
inaugurate development projects worth approximately ₹5,500 crore. The initiatives are aimed at
improving road and rail connectivity, boosting spiritual tourism, and ensuring a seamless
experience for visitors ahead of the 2025 Mahakumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest religious
gatherings.

The Prime Minister’s visit will commence at 12:15 p.m. with a prayer and darshan at the
Sangam Nose, a sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.
He will also pay respects at the Akshay Vat Vriksh, Hanuman Mandir, and Saraswati Koop. After
these spiritual engagements, he will tour the Mahakumbh exhibition site and then proceed to
inaugurate the various projects.

Key Development Projects
The focus of these projects is to improve the infrastructure of Prayagraj, ensuring it can handle
the influx of millions of devotees expected to attend the Mahakumbh Mela in 2025. Some of the
significant initiatives include:

1. Enhanced Road and Rail Connectivity
To improve accessibility and streamline transportation during the Mahakumbh, the government
is constructing ten new Road Over Bridges (RoBs) and flyovers. These infrastructural upgrades
will ease traffic flow and ensure smooth transportation across the city. Additionally, permanent
ghats along with riverfront roads are being built to provide better access for pilgrims.

2. Clean Ganga Mission
In line with PM Modi’s commitment to a “Swachh and Nirmal Ganga,” a series of initiatives will
be launched under the Clean Ganga Mission. These include projects for the interception,
diversion, and treatment of minor drains flowing into the Ganga, ensuring that no untreated
water is discharged into the sacred river. This project aims to improve the water quality of the
Ganga, which holds immense religious and cultural significance for millions of Indians.

3. Temple Corridors
In a bid to enhance the spiritual experience for devotees, several key temple corridors will be
inaugurated, including the Bharadwaj Ashram Corridor, Shringverpur Dham Corridor, Akshayvat
Corridor, and Hanuman Mandir Corridor. These corridors will make it easier for pilgrims to
access these important religious sites, promoting both ease of access and the growth of spiritual
tourism.

4. Infrastructure Enhancements
As part of the comprehensive development plan, projects related to drinking water and power
infrastructure are also being undertaken. These improvements will ensure that basic civic
amenities are in place to cater to the large number of visitors during the Mahakumbh Mela and
contribute to the overall development of Prayagraj.

Launch of Kumbh Sah’AI’yak Chatbot

In an innovative move, PM Modi will also launch the Kumbh Sah’AI’yak Chatbot, an
AI-powered virtual assistant designed to guide and assist devotees attending the Mahakumbh
Mela. The chatbot will provide real-time information on various aspects of the Mela, including
transport updates, event schedules, directions, and general queries, enhancing the experience
for millions of pilgrims. The AI system aims to bring technological ease to the event, which
attracts a diverse and large crowd each year.

A Vision for Prayagraj’s Future

These projects are part of a broader vision to transform Prayagraj into a model city that blends
spiritual significance with modern infrastructure. With the Mahakumbh Mela just around the
corner, these initiatives will ensure that the city can comfortably accommodate the millions of
devotees expected to attend, while also creating a long-lasting impact on the region’s
development.

As the country prepares for one of the largest religious events in the world, PM Modi’s visit and
the inauguration of these projects signify a major step in ensuring that the Mahakumbh Mela
2025 is not only a religious event but also a showcase of India’s commitment to sustainable
development, technological innovation, and spiritual tourism.

With these developments, Prayagraj is poised to provide a better, more efficient, and spiritually
enriching experience for devotees from across the globe.
