Punjab’s Maternal Lifesaver: Tech Revolution Scales Up to Slash MMR

Punjab Health Department heralds a transformative leap in maternal care, rolling out proven technology interventions across all government facilities statewide after pilot successes that saved over 300 mothers from critical postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in 12 districts.

Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh champions this expansion at a Chandigarh workshop, vowing to deploy every evidence-based tool- Non-Pneumatic Anti-Shock Garments (NASG) and Uterine Balloon Tamponade (UBT) to conquer PPH, targeting Sustainable Development Goal reductions below the national 88 MMR average (Punjab at 95). Collaborating with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), AIIMS Bathinda, and health officials, the initiative equips delivery points with life-saving gear for immediate crisis response.

This strategic scale-up promises universal antenatal vigilance, nutritional counseling, and seamless coordination, empowering frontline workers to prevent tragedies and nurture healthier futures. Punjab’s proactive embrace of tech-driven compassion positions it as a national beacon for maternal wellness triumphs.
