Monsoon weddings mean taking pheras with the pitter-patter of raindrops and swooshing of winds without turning it into a disaster. From what fabrics to choose to how to protect your outfit, we got fashion designer, Heena Modi to help you sail through the monsoon rains with these tips that ensure rain showers don’t mess up your heavenly union.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Rain-friendly fabrics
Monsoons are humid and fabrics like organic cotton, georgette, chanderi, cotton-silk blends and even organza are your best friends that will ensure blissful comfort and ease. You’ll be surprised to know that fuss-free materials like chiffon and georgette remove creases when exposed to humid weather. Lighter options like net, crepe and lace dry considerably faster and prevent sweat patches.
Minimal embellishment
Ditch all sorts of fancy detailing as they’re not quite monsoon-proof. Embroideries like resham work, chikankari work, beads, pearls and precious stones are not easily discoloured by moisture. Opt for rich lacework for your outfit.
Proper maintenance
Store your wedding ensembles in cool and airy spaces with the original packaging away from moisture. Fold the garments inside out, then wrap them in muslin/cloth bags with butter paper between the folds.
Brace yourself up for the feeling of getting ‘monsoon-married’ now!
