WHAT DO BRIDES WANT?

It is a sacred ritual for the Indian bride to look for her dream wedding outfit. Picking the perfect outfit for your big day is never easy. So what should you be searching for?

Your wedding attire should be a reflection of who you are, so look for a lehenga that can be worn with an embroidered skirt and a plain top, rather than something heavy that weighs you down. Whether in Banarasi, Kanjeevaram, chikankari, or chiffon, a traditional six-yard sari is an ensemble that is both wearable and versatile.

It is now the turn of the dupattas that are draped to enhance the visual appeal of bridal outfits. Fringed dupattas can be draped like stoles over the arms, whilst pre-stitched dupattas allow hands-free comfort.

Family heirlooms are highly popular in enhancing the look of the outfit whether it is her grandmother’s hand-me-down Banarasi dupatta paired with a new lehenga or her mother’s wedding jewelry worn for one of the events.

Often, modern brides prefer to let one aspect of their wardrobe stand out, so if the earrings are extravagant, she will omit the necklace; if the lehenga is heavily embellished, the blouse will be more basic.
