Apple is set to yet again revolutionise the tech industry with the launch of its Vision Pro

Apple is ecstatic with the launch of its newest Apple Vision Pro, considered to be its most ambitious new hardware product in years. Unveiling what only seemed to be possible in movies, Apple has come up with an eye-popping virtual reality device priced at $3,499 (Rs 2,88,742 approximately).

“It’s the first Apple product you look through, not at,” Cook said during the keynote address at the WWDC 2023 while announcing the Vision Pro. The new headgear by Apple will lock horns with Meta’s Quest Pro series.

The Vision Pro has a three-dimensional camera and microphone system that easily captures videos and pictures that users can later view in 3D. It has been in the making for years and can go up to two hours of use with an external battery, which Apple said would reduce the weight on the user’s head. 

When the headset is not used, it arrives at the Home view, a floating set of icons with Apple’s most used apps, including Mail, Music, Messages, and Safari. The system doesn’t need controllers or hardware and is instead operating with the movement of one’s eyes. 

The Vision Pro, which M2 powers, also comes with a new chip called R1 which has been designed to process information from its sensors in less time than the “blink of an eye”. The Apple headset works on its own operating system, VisionOS and also comes with its own dedicated App Store.

At its Worldwide Developers Conference, which kicked off Monday at its Cupertino, California campus, Apple not only showed off the Vision Pro but also the long list of software updates that will shape how people use its most popular devices, including the iPhone with an iOS 17 on the way and Apple Watch updates.
