The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey team delivered a commanding performance today, securing a decisive 4-0 victory over Ireland in their final Pool C encounter at the Women’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile. The win propelled India temporarily to the top position in their pool as the team now awaits the outcome of other matches to confirm their spot in the quarterfinals.
The young Indian side displayed clinical finishing and a solid defense throughout the match, putting pressure on the Irish defense early on. The goal-scoring effort was spearheaded by forward Purnima Yadav, who netted an impressive brace.
Crucial strikes also came from Kanika Siwach and Sakshi Rana, with each scoring a goal to round off the comfortable four-goal margin. The dominant offensive effort ensured India closed out the pool stage on a high note.

The victory means India concludes their pool matches with two wins and one loss. While the 4-0 triumph places them at the pinnacle of Pool C for the moment, the squad’s fate regarding a quarterfinal berth hinges on the remaining results across the tournament.
Under the current structure, the top teams from each pool, along with the two second-best teams across all six pools, will progress to the knockout stages. The Indian team, having secured a crucial win and a strong goal difference, will now be focused on the results that will confirm their advance deeper into the prestigious World Cup.
