Sikkim is gearing up to host a spectacular Supercar Rally beginning this December, a flagship event under the Defence Ministry’s unique ‘Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan’ initiative. This high-octane rally aims to dramatically boost battlefield and border tourism by showcasing the unparalleled beauty and challenging terrain of the Himalayan state.
Scheduled to kick off on the 12th of this month, the rally will feature a contingent of 17 high-performance carsnavigating some of Sikkim’s most formidable mountain routes. The initiative is a collaborative effort, strongly supported by the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps and the Sikkim state government, underscoring a commitment to promoting the region.
The ambitious route, designed to thrill driving enthusiasts, will be flagged off from Sukna in West Bengal and will cover the picturesque Siliguri-Gangtok-Cho La-Nathu La-Zuluk circuit before concluding on December 15th.
Beyond the spirit of adventure, the Supercar Rally’s primary goal is to spotlight Sikkim as a premier destination for both cultural and adventure tourism. By traversing these historically significant and visually stunning high-altitude locations, the rally not only honours the region’s strategic importance but also opens it up to a new class of travellers. This event promises to put Sikkim firmly on the map as a must-visit location for those who appreciate both natural beauty and driving excellence.
