Prime Minister Narendra Modi led from the front as thousands of people across the country participated in an hour-long cleanliness drive ahead of Gandhi Jayanti on October 1st.

PM Modi took part in the drive along with fitness influencer Ankit Baiyanpuriya, getting fitness and well-being into the mix too.

Sharing the video on his official X account, PM Modi wrote, “Today, as the nation focuses on Swachhata, Ankit Baiyanpuriya and I did the same! Beyond just cleanliness, we blended fitness and well-being also into the mix. It is all about that Swachh and Swasth Bharat vibe.

He can be heard asking the social media star how will the cleanliness drive help his fitness to which he replied, “It’s our responsibility to keep our nature clean. If it remains clean, we will stay fit.” He added that the people of Sonipat have started to prioritise cleanliness. He also responded to the post with his famous greeting and thanked the leader.

The 30-year-old expressed his joy at meeting the prime minister. “I felt great after meeting him. I wanted to meet him for a long time. A few days back I messaged the PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) that I wanted to meet PM Modi. They called me back. At first, I wasn’t able to believe it. This morning I met him and for 30 to 40 minutes we performed ‘Shramdaan’ together. He asked me about my workout and diet.”

Several leaders of the BJP, including Union Ministers, participated in cleanliness programs across different parts of the country. Home Minister Amit Shah joined in at Ahmedabad while BJP Chief JP Nadda participated in Delhi. In a recent episode of “Mann Ki Baat,” PM Modi appealed to all citizens for “one hour of shramdaan for swachhata” on October 1, which would serve as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his birth anniversary.
